Providing a safe and secure environment to your children is a very high priority for us. We strive to ensure safety in all aspects including using booties over our shoes to prevent germs in our infant classrooms, disinfecting toys on a daily basis, and having modern alarm fire systems at our center. All teaching staff is certified in CPR and First Aid. They all contribute to a safe and clean setting in which you can know that every effort is being made to keep your child safe, healthy and happy.
Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School follows a set of safety and security procedures that are strictly enforced. Some of them include:
Entrance to our center is limited to one door only and all parents and/or visitors are met at the door by our staff.
All visitors must present valid photo ID, sign in and state the purpose of their visit.
hildren are always supervised by our staff and we ensure that children only leave with approved adults.
Sign In-Sign Out
Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School takes very seriously the records of your child coming in and out of our facilities. Parents are required to sign in their child every morning when they come in, and sign out when they leave. State regulations require that you sign with your complete name.
Visitor's Precautions
Photo identification is required from all unfamiliar visitors. A visitor listed as an authorized person to pick-up a child must still show photo identification if we do not know him/her. Visitors touring any of our location always sign in at the office and are escorted by our staff at all times. Tours are often scheduled in late afternoons.
Equipment Safety
All of our equipment, toys and playground areas are kid-safe and age-appropriate for each of the areas in our classrooms. In addition, we perform regular facility monitoring to ensure all equipment is in working and safe condition.
Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
We offer full day programs only.
Overtime time charges are assessed after 6:00 p.m.

It is the policy of Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School
to maintain an environment free of discrimination.
Admission decisions are considered without regards to race, color,
national origin, gender, religion, political beliefs,
sexual orientation, marital or family status.
In order to maintain a healthy group of children and staff and to avoid exposure to viruses,
infections or other diseases, we ask that you keep children at home who have any of the following symptoms:
1. Fever (100F or more)
2. Vomiting
3. Diarrhea
4. Undiagnosed rash on the body**
5. Cloudy discharge from the eye(s)**
6. Any other Communicable disease**
** A doctor's note must be presented upon return to the Director when a child is sent home with these symptoms.
Children with any of the above mentioned symptoms (1-6) cannot return to Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hrs. Should your child become ill at the Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School, he/she will be isolated immediately from the other children and you will receive a phone call to have someone pick up your child immediately.
Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School requires that children are not to return to the center until symptoms have ceased for at least 24hrs.
In order to administer any medicine to your child, we must have all medicine forms completed. Please make sure to bring the medication (dated for the current illness) in its original container with the child's name and dosage information on it.
For over the counter medications, parents must provide a doctor's note with the following information: Child's name, date, medicine name, dosage and times to be administered, as well as the doctor's contact information.
Children returning to school from any ailments must participate in all school related activities including outdoor playtime.
Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School is committed to your child's best interest, including providing quality, healthy and nutritious meals to nourish their bodies. Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School understand that nutrition is an important aspect of your child's life and development. We take every step to expose children to a wide variety of Latin-flavored and international foods that are low in fat, full of fiber and follow the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Food Pyramid requirements based on their age group. All of our meals are prepared on a daily basis in our kitchens and fresh ingredients!

Infants (6 weeks to 12 months):
Children under one year of age are required to bring their food on a daily basis. Food containers and bottles should be clearly labeled with the child's name. State requirements mandate the following:
a) Parents must provide individually prepared bottles on a daily basis, not in large containers.
b) Breast milk should be thawed and ready to serve. We are not allowed to accept frozen breast milk.
In addition, Nelly's Childcare and Pre-School kindly ask parents to avoid sending food that could provoke choking such as: whole grapes, mozzarella sticks (whole), popcorn, fruits with seeds or tough skin (not peeled).
Infants (12 months+) – Toddlers – Pre-School and Pre-K:
Children are provided Breakfast, Lunch and two snacks throughout the day. Milk, juice and water are also provided throughout the day. Food is prepared daily in our kitchens and offer a wide variety of items and nutritious foods for our children made from scratch by our cook. Please see a sample of our weekly menu.
